El calor de las hojas

The works on paper titled "The Heat of the Leaves" are biographical in nature and are rooted in Chicago's inner city violence. The images depicted are derived from memories that shaped my experience as a youth and events I've been witness to that continue to affect me as an adult. My environment is the focal point and I use it to generate narratives that communicate the immediacy of these issues and their long lasting effects on my community.
